All school staff and visitors are expected to follow the protocols and advice set out in our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.


Main points:

  • Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
  • The Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs Gail Barnshaw (Head teacher)
  • The Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead is
  • Initial concerns about a pupil can be discussed with either the DSL or Deputy DSL who can advise about next steps.
  • Concerns MUST be recorded on a pink form, which is then passed to the DSL or Deputy for monitoring, further action and safekeeping.
  • The DSL will feed back actions to the relevant staff. Please ask if you have not had feedback.
  • If you are not satisfied with the actions taken by the DSL then it would be your duty to contact the MASH team. The telephone number is: 0300 126 1000

When working with children:

  • Personal mobile phones are NOT allowed to be used or available for use whilst working with a child, group or class. This is to safeguard both the child/ren and staff.  This is a non-negotiable rule.
    Please note that repeated offences will be considered a disciplinary issue.
  • If working with one child in a room, staff need to ensure they are visible.  Doors should remain open whenever possible.
  • Visitors or staff who do not have full DBS clearance wear a YELLOW lanyard.  This means they are NOT allowed to work unsupervised with a pupil or group.
